Do you want to get fit, improve your health, make new friends or start looking for work?

Back in the Game CIC uses football to involve individuals and groups in the community who have barriers that are preventing them from moving forward. These barriers can include physical or mental health problems, being overweight or unfit, being long-term unemployed or socially isolated.e

Activities are both practical and educational with links to local employers and other relevant training and work related bodies where appropriate.

We are members of the FA Licensed Coaches Club.

Walking Football is a brilliant idea for older people who may struggle to take part in a faster game.

Age need not be a barrier and many people in their eighties now take part in what has become a worldwide sport. In partnership with Age UK Wirral, Matt delivered a successful pilot project for Walking Football in Soccerloco Bromborough earlier in 2016 where more than 30 participants reached increased levels of fitness and made new friends.

Community Foundation for Merseyside Helps Back in the Game to Launch New Walking Football Project

Following its successful pilot project in partnership with Age UK Wirral, Back in the Game has received funding from Community Foundation for Merseyside to extend its programme for a further 20 weeks.

This will give us the opportunity to help a lot more local people improve their health and fitness as well as making new friends.

During the course of the project we will be undergoing further fundraising activities to ensure that the programme is sustained on a permanent basis.

The indoor sessions which are free of charge to all participants will start at 11am on Monday 9th January at Bebington Oval and will include after match refreshments giving players an opportunity to socialise before going home.

The project will be delivered by FA Coach and ex-professional Matt Edwards who has represented Scotland at Under 21 Level.

Back in the Game Brings Everton and England Legend to Wirral

We are delighted to announce that we have secured Peter Reid as the main speaker for our next fundraising evening on Friday 24th March at Old Parkonians, Holm Lane, Oxton.

Reid was the engine room of Everton’s fantastic side of the 1980s winning 2 League Titles, FA Cup, European Cup Winners’ Cup and 3 Charity Shields. He was also voted PFA Player of the Year by his fellow professionals in 1985 in recognition of his outstanding performances.

Most experts agree that his selection was one of the turning points in England’s run to the quarter finals of the 1986 World Cup.

After retiring Reid went on to have a successful career in management and was voted LMA Manager of the Year in 1996.

In recent years he has become a popular TV pundit working for a variety of media outlets.

Tickets for this fantastic night which includes a two course meal are only £25 and can be booked from Andy on 07872 073640 or andy@backinthegame.org.uk

Our coaches, Matt and Andy, with Everton Legend, Ian Snodin at a recent Back in the Game fundraising event.

Everton Legend Ian Snodin was the guest speaker at the recent event organised to raise funds for Back in the Game.

“Snods” entertained guests with stories from his playing career including the day he had to choose between signing for Everton or Liverpool when they were the top two sides in Europe.

A fantastic evening concluded with a raffle and an auction of signed memorabilia.

Back in the Game’s next fundraising night will be held on Friday 24th March 2017 and once again the venue will be Old Parkonians in Holm Lane, Oxton.

Our coaches, Matt and Andy, joined the Everton Legends in a Tribute Night to celebrate Everton’s greatest manager Howard Kendall.
